When one thinks of world-class wine, thoughts may often wander to far off places such as the Provence region of France or the Tuscan hills in northern Italy, but for Grapevine home owners, a world-class wine region lies just outside. Texas is the fifth-largest wine producing state in the U.S., with eight American Viticultural Areas and over 310 wineries in operation.

Known for its Historic Downtown with shopping, restaurants, art galleries, wine tasting rooms and award winning festivals, Grapevine has a lot to offer its residents and visitors. And the entertainment district is fortunate to have restored the Palace Arts Theater, which was built in 1940 and houses the Grapevine Opry. There is simply a charm about this small suburb, which can’t be denied. Residents who move to Grapevine often stay a lifetime; it’s a perfect location, and great schools, miles and miles of parks and nature trails and of course the lake. Grapevine’s three golf courses are ranked among the top 50 public courses in the US, including one owned by the NFL Dallas Cowboys. While visiting you won’t want to miss the Grapevine Vintage Railroad excursion train pulled by an 1896 steam locomotive known as the Tarantula!

In 2007 CNN Money.com rated Grapevine as one of “America’s Best Places to Live.”

Grapevine was officially recognized as a World Festival and Events City by the International Festival & Events Association in 2012.

Grapevine is home to GrapeFest, the largest wine festival in the Southwest.

Every Friday night beginning Memorial Day weekend and ending Labor Day weekend, the city features a Friday Night Fireworks event where visitors can watch a beautiful fireworks display over Lake Grapevine.   This is free to the public.

Each fall Grapevine hosts the Butterfly Flutterby event on Main Street to celebrate the migration of the monarch butterfly from Canada to Mexico by way of Grapevine.

Grapevine is home to the Gaylord Texan Resort hotel overlooking Lake Grapevine.

Lake Grapevine is an 8,000 acre recreational lake with two marinas and The Vineyards Camp Grounds.

There are more then 22 miles of paved and natural trails for hikers and bikers.

Grapevine is home to the NFL Dallas Cowboys golf course.

There are three golf courses in Grapevine which are ranked among the top 50 public courses in the US.

Grapevine is named after the wild mustang grapes that were abundant in the area before it was developed.

Built in 1940, the Historic Palace Theatre is home to the Grapevine Opry.  Stars who have performed there include LeAnn Rimes, Miranda Lambert and Keith Anderson.

Grapevine is home to the Nash Farm, circa 1859, which is the oldest operating farmstead in Tarrant County.

Grapevine is known as the Christmas Capital of Texas.

Grapevine Vintage Railroad’s Steam Engine 2248, named “PUFFY”, is the oldest continuously operated steam engine in the South.

Bonnie and Clyde, the famous criminal duo, spent a lot of time at Denton Creek, this area is now known as Lake Grapevine.  There is a historical marker at Dove Road and HWY 114 where they shot two Texas state troopers.

Norah Jones, singer songwriter and actress was originally born in Brooklyn, New York but lived in Grapevine as a child.

Jaimie Alexander, an actress born in Greenville, South Carolina, spent the majority of her youth growing up in Grapevine.

George McFarland, actor, Spanky of Our Gang/The Little Rascals, lived in Grapevine and died there in 1993 of cardiac arrest.
